House in Sadiqabad seized under NDPS Act; SSP says crackdown on drug networks will intensify.

Doda, August 25 – In a significant move against the growing menace of narcotics in the Chandrabhaga, Doda Police on Sunday attached property worth ₹45.32 lakh belonging to a notorious drug peddler in the district.

The asset, a double-storey residential house located at Sadiqabad, Doda, was identified as having been acquired through proceeds of illicit narcotics trade. The attachment proceedings were carried out by a team led by SHO Doda, Inspector Parvez Khandey, and DySP Headquarters Doda, Ajay Anand, in the presence of the Executive Magistrate First Class. The action was executed under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Link to Ongoing Case

Police said the action was directly connected to an FIR registered at Police Station Doda under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act against Shakeela Begum alias Taya, wife of Farooq Ahmed, resident of Sadiqabad, Doda. She was arrested earlier in the same case as a forward link, being identified as the main supplier of narcotics. She is currently lodged in Bhaderwah Jail.

Officials confirmed that the accused has remained involved in at least four FIRs related to illicit trade in narcotic substances, making her one of the most notorious names in the district’s drug network.

‘Hitting Where It Hurts’

Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda, Sh. Sandeep Mehta (JKPS), addressing a press conference, underlined that the district police have adopted a multi-pronged strategy against narco-smuggling.

“Doda Police is fully committed to wiping out the menace of drugs from the district. Our approach is not limited to arrests; we are determined to dismantle the entire ecosystem of drug trafficking by targeting both the perpetrators and their unlawfully acquired wealth,” he said.

The SSP added that such actions strike at the financial roots of drug trafficking and serve as a stern warning to others involved in the illegal trade.

Public Appeal

In his address, Mr. Mehta also appealed to the general public, particularly the youth, to remain vigilant and stay away from drugs. He urged citizens to share information about drug peddlers and assured that the identity of informers would be kept strictly confidential.

Larger Strategy

Police officials said the attachment of immovable properties linked to drug money forms part of a broader campaign in Doda aimed at eradicating narcotics from the region. Authorities emphasised that the crackdown would continue with equal vigour in the coming months.

The latest action is being viewed as a strong message to those engaged in the illegal trade, signalling that both their freedom and their ill-gotten assets are at risk.
