New Delhi, June 26: The Nation First Policy Research and Change Foundation (NFPRC) on Friday organised a national workshop for Parliamentarians and Legislators at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, bringing together nearly 70 Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assemblies and policy experts from across the country. The workshop focused on labour formalisation, social security, workforce skilling, digital governance and effective legislative communication to strengthen governance and support the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
Addressing the gathering, NFPRC Chairperson Shri Tarun Chugh highlighted the importance of labour formalisation, workforce readiness and digital skilling in accelerating inclusive growth. He reaffirmed the Foundation's commitment to strengthening legislative capacity through research-backed policy dialogue and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
The workshop was presided over by Shri Harvinder Kalyan, Hon'ble Speaker of the Haryana Legislative Assembly, who stressed that evidence-based policymaking and continuous legislative learning are essential for deepening democratic governance and delivering effective public service.
Union Minister for Labour and Employment, and Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, delivered a session on "Universalising Social Security & Worker Formalisation: The New Labour Architecture." He highlighted how the new Labour Codes and flagship initiatives such as the e-Shram Portal, National Career Service (NCS) and Digital Labour Chowk are expanding social security, strengthening employment opportunities and improving welfare delivery for unorganised, gig and platform workers through technology-driven governance.
Rajya Sabha Member Shri Vinod Tawde conducted a session on effective communication for legislators, emphasising the growing importance of digital media, public engagement, ethical communication, misinformation management and regional media in strengthening public trust and awareness of government initiatives.
Shri Arunkumar Pillai, Chief Executive Officer of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), spoke on strengthening India's skilling framework through the Skill India Digital ecosystem, international best practices, competency-based learning and apprenticeship models to create a future-ready workforce and improve employment outcomes.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Abhinav Prakash, Board Member of the NFPRC Foundation, who appreciated the participation of legislators and experts while reaffirming NFPRC's commitment to supporting evidence-based policymaking, legislative excellence and governance reforms. Participants described the workshop as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, legislative capacity building and collaborative policy discussions, with NFPRC announcing that similar engagements will continue in the future.
